SB 663 - Election Law - Public Campaign Financing Act for Candidates for the General Assembly

Would have extablished a system by which candidates for the Maryland General Assembly could run publicly-financed campaigns.

SB 625 - Maryland Building Performance Standards - Energy Conservation and Efficiency Requires counties to adopt the latest energy efficiency building codes each time a national council updates them.

Finance Committee

HB 1292 - Consumer Protection - Consumer Credit Contracts - Prohibited Provisions

Prevents credit card companies from discriminating against customers based on behaviors unrelated to their ability to pay their bill on time.

HB 15 - Child Care Articles Containing Bisphenol-A - Prohibition

Would phase out the use of baby bottles and other child care products containing the toxic chemical, bisphenol –A (BPA) and requiring the use of safer alternatives.

SB 196 - Pharmaceutical Manufacturers - Disclosure of Payments to Physicians Would require pharmaceutical firms to disclose payments to physicians to the Maryland Health Care Commission.

SB 361 - Environment - Reducing Lead Risk in Housing - Lead Paint Dust Testing Safeguards the health of children living in older housing stock by requiring all landlords to conduct lead dust testing before a new tenant moves in.

HB 27 - Transportation - Intercounty Connector - Elimination of Funding
This bill would have cut funding for the Intercounty Connector.

Economic Matters Committee

SB 342 - Consumer Protection - Fur Labeling Requirements for Articles of Clothing
This bill would have required retailers to label clothing containing fur with the type of animal fur and the country of origin.
HB 814 - Maryland Energy Administration - Green Jobs Workforce Training Program
Would create workforce training programs for the clean energy sector.
HB 453 - Public Service Companies - Termination of Electric and Gas Service - Extreme Temperatures
Prevents public utilities from turning off a consumers electricity and gas service due to nonpayment on days when the temperature exceeds 95 degrees or is lower than 32 degrees.

Environmental Matters Committee

HB 14 - Environment - Brominated Flame Retardants - Decabrominated Diphenyl Ether - Prohibition
HB 14 would phase out the sale and manufacture of products containing the toxic chemical Deca-PBDE in Maryland.

HB 1053 - Community Environmental Protection Act of 2009
This bill expands the rights of citizens to challenge land use decisions in court.
