To the Maryland
Public Service Commission,
I urge you to deny Unistar’s request for a certificate of
public convenience and necessity to build a new nuclear reactor in Maryland.
Clean energy technologies can
deliver a more reliable supply of electricity faster and at lower cost than building
a new nuclear reactor can. And unlike nuclear power plants, clean energy sources
don’t produce highly toxic radioactive waste.
I urge you to prioritize
successful implementation of the EmPOWER Maryland energy efficiency program and
the state’s renewable electricity standard and deny Unistar’s application to
build a new nuclear reactor to set us on the path towards an affordable,
reliable and safe energy future for our state.
