Sign the make medications safer petition

A study released in May 2007 links the diabetes drug Avandia to a 30 percent increased risk of heart attack and death from cardiovascular disease. The Avandia situation, which follows Vioxx, Paxil and other drug safety problems, further highlights the need for Congress to make our medicine safe. Dear Senators Kennedy and Enzi:

We support your legislation (S. 1082) to fix the Food and Drug Administration’s broken system of prescription drug regulation.  Please let your colleagues know that we strongly support the bipartisan Food and Drug Administration Revitalization Act, which will protect consumers from dangerous and deadly prescription drugs such as Vioxx.  We oppose any amendments backed by the powerful drug industry to weaken this bill.
